Growing a landscape
Interconnected green spaces, a thriving natural world and wildlife – and walkable neighbourhoods all within the fantastic setting of the Nene Valley. Sibson Garden Community will be designed for its residents and neighbours to live alongside nature.
The vision for Sibson is to deliver a landscape-led and design-sensitive addition to the landscape of the Nene Valley with approximately 35% of the land being given to green infrastructure.
The proposed landscaping will be soft and native to reflect the location of the site within Huntingdonshire. One of the key concepts of the proposal is the inclusion of green, wildlife corridors integrated with pedestrian routes.
Existing landscapes of mature trees and blocks of woodland will be protected and enhanced, ensuring that the key landscape corridor of mature tree specimens is largely undisturbed. Historic hedgerows that have been lost over time could be reinstated, building upon the existing green corridors within the site.
Existing watercourses and ditches are protected and incorporated into multi-functional green corridors, responding to the wider character of the Nene Valley.
